Simple Tips and Hints everyone should know
Change your Filters. Most homes have slim filters that should be replaced monthly. When a filter clogs it creates stress to your blower and reduce the life span of the unit.
Keep your Units Clean. A condenser must be able to breath at all times. Large shrubs, lawn clippings and dirt can find its way around a unit, causing internal components to over work. An evaporator coil can also become dirty and restrict air from flowing. This is a very common cause of frozen evaporator coils.
Treat your Units to a Tune Up. A simple tune up can prevent many costly repairs in the future. Have your systems checked twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring. A qualified technician should perform preventive maintenance and notify you of any possible problems as well as solutions.
Registers. Your registers should face exterior doors and windows. Most heat enters your home through your doors and windows. Facing your registers at these spots will circulate the air and prevent hot and cold spots within a room.
When Hiring a Contractor. Any one you hire to inspect or repair your HVAC system should be licensed, but beware not all of them are. A good and very simple way to know is to check there work vehicle. There should be a (TACL#) on the side of their vehicle. If there is no (TACL#) then there most likely not licensed. If you're still unsure, ASK or visit http://www.license.state.tx.us/licensesearch/. Just keep in mind an unlicensed contractor is unlicensed for a reason
